I can't believe I have a 6 year old! This year for Caleb's birthday he wanted to celebrate with our dear friends the Morrisons. We gathered at their house for a great time. Caleb really wanted a lego fire station for his birthday. So he told everyone that was what he wanted. So each of the gifts involved money. He scored with his gifts! So much so that with what he got for his birthday and what he had already earned by doing chores at home he was able to buy the fire station and give some money to the church. It was the first time he had wanted something bad enough to save his money rather than letting it burn a hole in his pocket.
Also for his birthday he wanted a Cars character cake. Amazing that after 4 years he still loves Cars. So this year we did a 'Chick Hicks' cake. This is now the third Cars Character cake that I have made. It is always fun for me to see if I can make it happen. His birthday was so fun as always! My little guy is getting so big!
It has become a tradition in our family to go pick berries in the summer. So this year we had to some what squeeze it in. The season starts the end the June which was also the same time that all the end of the year things were happening at Caleb's school as well as birthdays, graduation and preparing for vacation. So we went on a saturday and made a fun family outing of it. The boys are not as into the picking as they are just watching Dustin and I do it. However they had fun running up and down the rows of Strawberries between us. Caleb really liked to see which one of us had more berries in our basket, and how big they were. He would then take the biggest one he found in a basket and run to show the other parent. He would vote on who had the most berries in their basket. It was a wonderful day . When all was said and done we ended up with 30 pounds of strawberries and 7 pounds of raspberries. I think Dustin and I got a little too into the competition that Caleb spurred on. It was such a fun day and we still have berries in the freezer.
June 18, 2010 was a big day at our house. Caleb graduated from Kindergarten that day. It was so precious!! Caleb's teacher asked that everyone where their Field day shirts since they were so cute in them. The graduation was so sweet. The class recite a bible verse for each letter in the alphabet and many of the letters had songs for the verse. Caleb of course knew them all. He had been singing them around the house for a few weeks before graduation. We are such proud parents. It was such a blessing to see him up on that stage graduating. He got a certificate and everything. It was so awesome. Each child even got a chance to wear a graduation cap for a photo op. How precious it is to be a mom of such a wonderful little boy!
I had no idea the end of a school year came with many activities. One of them, also Caleb's favorites, is a 'Field day”. In the second week of June the school put on a day that is just for playing outside. The whole school gets to have the day to play and do no school work at all. Each class had to choose a color that they would wear. Caleb's class had two colors which showed their teams. Caleb was on the purple team. His class got to make tie dye shirts just for field day. They had all kids of awesome things for the kids to do; bouncy house, hot dogs, snowcones, games, cake walk, races, prizes, etc. Caleb loved the field day so much that he mentioned it for months afterwards. I don't have any pictures as I was not able to be there that day. However I wanted to include it since Caleb was so excited about it.
The beginning of June marked the end of Tee ball for Caleb. He had such a good time over the season learning to play. At the end of the year the league had a party for all the teams At the end of the get together his team gathered with their couch and all received a trophy. Caleb was so excited! He could hardly stand it. His first trophy!!
As you already know Caleb started Tee Ball just before Easter. He has loved it. I have been meaning to get these pictures on the site for all to see how cute he is. So here they are. These are from the first game. He was so excited to have a game. The practices are ok but he was really excited about the game. After the game he said that the games are so much more fun. THe practices are kinda boring he said. Of course with the game he is able to hit the ball a number of times, run the bases, play the out field and a couple other positions, and have lots of people watch him. What’s not to love?!
Another one from Caleb’s first tee ball game. Don’t mind the crazy, wacko, screaming parents. That’s not us…
